Decorating the house for Christmas brings so much joy to my heart. Last year I came across a natural fern garland at Trader Joes and can’t picture another holiday season without natural fern.
Trader Joes pro tip: call the store and ask if the seasonal item is in stock, how much do they have and if they can hold it for you (I also do this during peony season)
Last year we had the tree next to the dinning table, while the year before it was next to the TV. This year I wanted it to stand out so I moved it to the addition that will soon house our dream kitchen. I keep reminding myself that this time next year we would be in the middle of a home renovation and we should enjoy our home the way it currently it is for the last time.
I hope there aren’t as many ornament causalities this year as the prior year. You’d think after bitting into one glass ornament, that the boys would learn. I’ve kept the same color theme for going on four years, maybe after the renovation I’ll change the theme.
We keep it classic with white, gold and silver ornaments. I prefer white lights that stay on. Each year I find an ornament that represents and reminds me of the year we’ve shared. I have an ornament from when we moved into our apartment, got engaged then married and when we got the boys.
The ornament this year that stood out to me was a red door. I reminds me of how we are setting out on this path for financial freedom. I believe this year for us has literally been filled with old doors closing and new ones opening up. It sounds cliche, but we’ve benign working hard at stepping outside of our comfort zone in order to grow.
