Waco, Texas

My girlfriends and I have been talking about visiting Waco, Texas with every Fixer Upper Episode we watched in grad school. So when my friend Steph, moved out to Dallas last fall we thought why not turn this into a girls trip.

Where we stayed…

On the top of our list was to obviously stay at a home renovated by Joanna Gaines. As it turns out, that’s a common request and we couldn’t find one that checked all our boxes and was still available. We decided to pick a fixer upper inspired airbnb.

This home was filled with shiplap, antiques and charm.

We drove to Waco early Friday morning. The drive was about 2.5 hours from Dallas.

We checked into our airbnb right away and switch out of our road trip outfits and into photoshoot appropriate outfits.

What we did…

Because lets be real, you will not be the only one at the Silos posing for instagram worthy pictures.

I obviously had to use my rent the runway membership to ensure I had adorable outfits for the girls trip. Employees advised us that going right when it first opens during the week is less packed. If large crowds give you anxiety, avoid going during an event weekend or any weekend really.

I channeled my inner Joanna Gaines in this floral jumper and pretended to be working on our gardens in her replica greenhouse. The little garden shop by the garden is also adorable.

I enjoyed the mini replica of Joanna Gaines rose garden at the Silos. Her roses are from Grace Rose Farm and after seeing Grace’s roses in real life, I want one for myself even more.

No trip to the Silos would be complete without visiting the bakery. I remember watching that episode and was so excited to see how Chip did the hard wood floors in a herringbone pattern. Those poor hard wood floors didn’t withstand the amount of foot traffic from daily visitors (legit shed a tear, RIP beautiful wood floors).

We obviously got one of everything and spent the rest of the weekend eating our treats back at the airbnb.

We spent day two having breakfast at you guessed it, Magnolia Table.

We sat at a community table because the wait time for a private table was “chew your arm off from hunger” long.

We then decided to walk off breakfast by the river and visit the Dr. Pepper factory. I always try to find a pharmacy related trip “must see” or visit. Dr. Pepper was a pharmacist, and I obviously had to take a picture with the mock store front in yet another RTR jumper.

We freshened up for an early dinner and bedtime, since we had the 5k the following morning.

The weather was not chilly enough for a sweater, but since I had rented it, I had to commit to the outfit.
